L’œuvre de Tetsuo Harada a été choisie parmi 77 propositions soumises au jury du concours organisé par la ville de Nanterre. Les deux colonnes solidement campées symbolisent les deux guerres mondiales gagnées. Les deux V gravés successivement dans la masse montrent les signes de la Victoire. Au pied des deux colonnes, les galets amoncelés incarnent les nombreuses victimes des deux guerres, sans qui ces victoires n’auraient pas été possibles. Concours international organisé par la Ville de Nanterre.

Tetsuo Harada's work was chosen from 77 proposals submitted to the jury of the competition organized by the city of Nanterre. The two solidly encamped columns symbolize the two world wars won. The two V's engraved successively in the mass show the signs of Victory. At the foot of the two columns, the pebbles piled up embody the many victims of the two wars, without whom these victories would not have been possible. International competition organised by the City of Nanterre.

Situé au pourtour de l’Hôtel de Ville de Nanterre le monument commémoratif est un témoignage et un hommage à tous ceux qui ont contribué à la victoire sur le nazisme durant la seconde guerre mondiale. Les deux V de Victoire sculptés sur les deux colonnes symbolisent les victoires remportées. Elles montrent aussi la stabilité et la force. L’amoncellement de galets symbolise les vies données à la patrie pour soutenir l’effort de la victoire. Cette sculpture monumentale s’intègre parfaitement avec l’espace environnant et de plus ce symbole s’inscrit dans la mémoire du temps et le transcende.
